What is Reframing Excellence?
Reframing Excellence is a book about organizational excellence, written for leaders whose organizations are being shaped by artificial intelligence (AI), by choice or not. It is not a book about AI; it is a book about holding AI to the same standard as everything else an organization does.
The book applies to AI performance the discipline the Baldrige Excellence Framework® has demanded of organizations for nearly four decades: evidence over intention, results over activity. And it anchors AI management in ISO/IEC 42001, the international standard that specifies requirements for an Artificial Intelligence Management System (AIMS).
The goal is simple: AI that serves the mission rather than quietly redefining it, and leaders who remain accountable for the decisions that matter.

Dr. James R. King
Dr. James R. King is Founder and Chief Transformation Architect of Scaled Transformation LLC and a three-term examiner for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award and Communities of Excellence. A twenty-six-year U.S. Army veteran, he culminated his career as Sergeant Major and Senior Enlisted Leader for the National Security Agency/Central Security Service. For more than two decades, he has helped federal, state, and enterprise leaders turn performance frameworks into operating discipline.
